Method

Rice will be cooked 1:2 in broth or water.

  1. Bring broth or water to boil in sauce pot.
  2. Meanwhile, rinse white rice in water until the water runs mostly clear.
  3. Add rice and 2 tbsp salted butter (optional) to boiling broth/water.
  4. Stir once and cover.
  5. Cook for 17 minutes or when desired consistency is reached.
  6. Gently stir (“fork”) the rice, adding more butter as desired.

Notes

For rinsing the rice, some people stir with their hand in a bowl, but I like to put the rice in a sieve and run under the filtered tap, occasionally shaking up the rice.

Ingredients

This recipe will cover 1 cup rice (2 cups broth or water).

  • 1 cup rice
